Worship/Sermon Notes… "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Rom 10:13-14 As we grow in our hearing of God’s preached Word, sermon notes help develop a discerning attitude and a deeper sense of active participation (active listening) in our worship. 5th Grade Worship notes help learners become familiar with important information about the seasons of the church, key scripture lessons for preaching and worship themes, and practical applications for daily life and prayer. 6th-8th Grade Sermon notes challenge learners to listen to sermons with a proper distinction between God’s law and God’s gospel as they receive God’s preached Word and apply it to daily life. A minimum of 10 Worship/Sermon notes is due for each learner. The student is to complete at least 1 sermon note per month. If not completed, contact will be made to ensure the student’s personal 100% is being implemented. Blank forms are found in the mailboxes next to the door from the hallway to the narthex of the main building. Be sure to include all information (completed form) penned clearly to insure credit. Return completed notes to the labeled mailbox (near Sanctuary) or at the Information table (Family Life Center). Blank forms are also found in these locations. They will be logged into student records, and returned to the family mailbox for feedback to the learner and family. Parents are encouraged to help youth with their notes by discussing the worship service/sermon as their youth completes the assignment and by reviewing comments with their youth after the forms are returned.
