Blessing of the Quilts
plus Quilt Show, Auction, and Sale
October 11 and 12 at All Worship Services
The Piecemakers, RLC's quilting group, creates hand-tied quilts that are blessed and shipped to Lutheran World Relief (LWR). Quilts are valuable tools in LWR’s relief work to end poverty, injustice, and human suffering. To recipients, they are a symbol of God’s love and compassion. Quilts can be used as warm bedding, room dividers, simple tents, or floor coverings.
This year, Lutheran World Relief is celebrating 80 years of Quilt Ministry! In honor of this milestone, The Piecemakers are holding a Quilt Show with your special or vintage quilts as part of the Blessing of the Quilts Weekend this month.
If you would like to show a quilt during this event, please drop it off in the Fellowship Hall on Saturday, October 11 between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Come view these artistic and unique pieces of tradition!
The quilters will display the finished hand-tied quilts that are ready for donation to LWR in all of our worship services during this special weekend. Our church was one of many who partnered with this mission to donate 330,000 quilts to over 24 countries in 2024.
In addition to the quilt show and blessing, there will also be a quilt auction and sale where you can expect to see an assortment of beautiful quilts and hand-crafted items. Proceeds go towards buying batting for the quilts and to help defray the cost of shipping.

It takes many hands to complete just one quilt, and not all of the jobs need a sewing machine. If you are interested in giving us an extra pair of hands, we can find the right job that fits your expertise.
