Resurrection offers an outreach to the blind in the form of a monthly social that includes dinner, devotion, prayer, and fellowship. We have musical entertainment provided by our talented musicians or outside groups. Here, both sighted and visually impaired people gather for friendship and support as they show and tell Jesus' love. These events occur on the last Friday of the month from 5:30-7:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Volunteers provide transportation, prepare and serve food to guests, and help set up and clean up.

A few years back, Annette Langefeld-Kennedy and her husband, Bruce Kennedy, expressed a desire to reach out to the blind community in the Triangle area. After some research and finding a congregation in Conover to serve as a mentor, the Blind Ministry began at RLC on a Friday night in January of 2012. The model was designed to help this community of people, which can often become very isolated, have a space and time to be connected with each other and with caring Christian partners. The first night began with 5 guests for dinner and prayer. The ministry and community have grown since then, now entertaining between 30 and 40 guests one Friday night per month gathering in the Fellowship Hall for dinner, conversation, musical entertainment, and time for devotions and prayer.

In 2023, we will gather on January 27, February 24, March 31, April 28, May 26, June 30, July 28, August 25, September 29, October 27, and November 27. We will not meet in December.

Our ministry has grown tremendously since we started in January 2012!
As you can imagine, it takes a lot of volunteers to be able to host such an event. You can ask any of the volunteers who faithfully serve what a joy it is to be involved. We all feel richly rewarded by bringing joy into their lives and showing them the love that Christ first showed us. Our guests keep telling us how much they look forward to this time of fellowship and how much they appreciate what we are doing for them.

We thank all of our volunteers who helps us with our Blind Ministry dinners! We couldn't do it without our faithful volunteers.

Please join us in this amazing ministry! We need drivers, people to set up starting at around 4:00 pm, and to help with serving and cleaning up. Our guests start arriving at 5:30 pm and leave between 7:00 and 7:30 pm.

Please contact Annette Langefeld-Kennedy with any questions or if you are interested in volunteering.
