Resurrection offers a monthly social event specifically designed for the visually impaired. This gathering provides an opportunity for visually impaired individuals to come together for dinner, devotion, prayer, and fellowship. Our talented musicians provide musical entertainment, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The purpose of these events is to foster friendship, support, and the sharing of Jesus' love. They also provide a safe environment for the visually impaired to go out at night. These social events take place on the last Friday of every month, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, in the Fellowship Hall. Our dedicated volunteers play a crucial role in this initiative by providing transportation to the visually impaired, preparing and serving food, and assisting with setup and cleanup.

The Blind Ministry at Resurrection Lutheran Church (RLC) was established in January 2012, thanks to the vision of Pastor Mark Drengler, Ron Bostick, Annette Langefeld-Kennedy and her husband, Bruce Kennedy. After conducting thorough research and finding a mentor congregation in Conover, they embarked on this mission to reach out to the blind community in the Triangle area. The ministry aimed to combat the isolation often experienced by visually impaired individuals by creating a space for connection and fostering relationships with each other as well as with caring Christian partners. The inaugural event welcomed five guests for dinner and prayer, and since then, the ministry and community have flourished. Currently, we host between 30 and 40 guests each month in the Fellowship Hall, offering them a delightful evening of dinner, conversation, musical entertainment, and time for devotion and prayer.

In 2023, we have scheduled Blind Ministry events on the last Friday of every month on the following dates: January 27, February 24, March 31, April 28, May 26, June 30, July 28, August 25, September 29, October 27, and November 17. Please note that we will not be meeting in December.

Since its inception, our ministry has experienced tremendous growth. Hosting such an event requires a dedicated team of volunteers, and we are immensely grateful for their commitment. The volunteers who faithfully serve in this ministry can attest to the joy it brings to be involved. By bringing joy into the lives of our guests and demonstrating the love of Christ, we feel richly rewarded. Our guests consistently express their anticipation for these fellowship gatherings and their deep appreciation for the efforts we put forth on their behalf.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who contribute to the success of our Blind Ministry dinners. Without their unwavering support, none of this would be possible.

We invite you to join us in this incredible ministry! We are in need of drivers, volunteers to assist with setup starting at approximately 4.30 pm, and volunteers to help with serving and cleaning up. Our guests typically arrive at 5:30 pm and depart between 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm.
